IL SB1160

Amends the Renewable Energy Component Recycling Task Force Act to add two new duties: considering benefits of prohibiting mixing renewable energy components and energy storage systems with municipal waste destined for landfills, and considering benefits of prohibiting disposal of these components in sanitary landfills.

Requires the REC Recycling Task Force to investigate recycling options, identify preferred end-of-life management methods, and evaluate economic and environmental costs and benefits of various disposal approaches.

Directs the task force to survey federal and other states' regulatory requirements for renewable energy component decommissioning and financial assurance, and identify needed infrastructure for collection and transport of end-of-life renewable equipment.

Requires the task force to develop stakeholder engagement and recommendations for legislative, administrative, or private sector action to implement recycling and end-of-life management programs.

Task force must submit final report with findings and stakeholder input to the General Assembly and Governor's Office by July 1, 2025.
