• Adds a new income tax deduction for volunteer firefighters effective for taxable years beginning on or after January 1, 2023.

• Allows volunteer firefighters registered with the Office of the State Fire Marshal to deduct amounts paid to them for volunteer fire service, capped at $10,000 per taxable year.

• Defines "volunteer firefighter" as a person serving on a non-full-time career basis as a member of a fire protection association, fire protection district, or municipal fire department.
