SB1351 Summary

• Allows teachers due to be evaluated in their final year before retirement to waive the evaluation and retain their most recent rating, unless previously rated as "needs improvement" or "unsatisfactory"

• School districts may still evaluate a retiring teacher if they provide at least 14 days' notice and state a reason for the evaluation

• Applies to both non-Article 34 school districts (Section 24A-5) and Article 34 districts (Section 34-84)

• Takes effect upon becoming law
