Amends the Homeless Family Placement Act to require referring agencies to consider military status of family members when placing homeless families in shelters.

Adds military status as a factor to determine eligibility for state and federal benefits including housing assistance, rental assistance, job training, and employment opportunities for homeless veterans and their families.

Requires referring agencies to consult with families and consider seven factors (including the new military status factor) before referring them to shelters, with preference for placement near the child's school of origin.

Defines "military status" according to Section 1-103 of the Illinois Human Rights Act.

Maintains existing provisions that shelters are not required to serve families ineligible for their services.
