SB1423 Summary

• Exempts drivers of motor vehicles controlled by or for farmers from commercial driver's license (CDL) requirements when transporting agricultural products, implements of husbandry, or farm supplies to and from a farm, provided movement does not exceed 150 air miles from the originating farm if traveling interstate.

• Removes the requirement for truck-tractor semitrailer combination drivers to successfully complete tests deemed necessary by the Secretary of State.

• Lowers the minimum age for intrastate operation of truck-tractor semitrailer combinations as covered farm vehicles from 18 years to 16 years of age, while maintaining the 21-year minimum age for interstate operations.

• Applies the farm vehicle exemption only to farmers or their family members (spouse, child, parent, or sibling) operating covered farm vehicles.
