Creates a Statewide PTSD Mental Health Coordinator position under the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board, appointed by the Governor with Senate confirmation for a 4-year term.

Coordinator must be an active duty law enforcement officer with diverse experience across patrol, detective work, and various settings, plus a history of developing evidence-based mental health training.

Coordinator responsibilities include introducing police recruits to mental health issues, establishing resilience and trauma-based training programs, and creating a reference list of medical professionals for law enforcement departments.

Coordinator shall cooperate with police agencies to establish peer support programs, work with universities on training research, and set continuing education standards for mental health training at different career stages.

Coordinator reports to the Board on program development and implementation while advising on training needs for law enforcement agencies of varying sizes and demographics.
