IL SB1722

Removes the residency requirement for township treasurers in Class II county school units, allowing treasurers to be appointed from outside the township.

Prohibits school treasurers from being members of the school board or county board of school trustees, with an exception allowing concurrent service as regional board treasurer.

Requires treasurers appointed for their first term in Class II county school units after August 14, 1989 to be certified public accountants or certified chief school business officials, with prior township treasurer experience deemed equivalent.

Establishes a 2-year term for school treasurers in districts that have withdrawn from township jurisdiction or had township offices abolished, beginning and ending July 1.

Requires transfer of all school funds, accounts, and records from township treasurers to newly appointed school district treasurers upon withdrawal from township jurisdiction or abolition of township offices.
