IL SB1750

Amends the Fire Protection District Act to change the requirement for firefighters hired after January 1, 2005 from "must" to "may" be licensed as an EMT, EMT-I, A-EMT, or paramedic, making the licensure requirement optional rather than mandatory.

Adds a new requirement that fire protection district boards of trustees must reimburse mandatory training expenses for EMTs, EMT-I, A-EMT, or paramedics employed by or under contract with the district, subject to appropriation by the General Assembly.

Includes reimbursement for training expenses of firefighters required to be licensed under the optional licensure provisions.

Takes effect January 1, 2024.
