Schools serving kindergarten through 8th grade are prohibited from scheduling pesticide applications on school grounds during school days when students are present for instructional purposes, effective July 1, 2024.

Prohibited pesticide application areas include paved surfaces, playgrounds, and playing fields where children are typically present.

Exempts areas where children are not typically present, such as flower beds and lawns surrounding the school that are not used as playing fields.

Defines "school day" according to Section 300.11 of the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

Aims to minimize student exposure to pesticides by ensuring applications comply with EPA pesticide label requirements.
