IL SB1870

Adds a new provision (a-10) to the residential burglary statute defining residential burglary as knowingly and without authority entering onto another's property with intent to commit theft of a motor vehicle.

Maintains existing residential burglary definitions under subsections (a) and (a-5), which cover entering dwellings to commit felonies or theft, and falsely representing oneself to gain entry.

Classifies residential burglary as a Class 1 felony under subsection (b).

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
