IL SB1890

Amends the Herptiles-Herps Act (510 ILCS 68/5-30) to allow snapping turtles to be taken by trap, notwithstanding any contrary administrative rules.

Requires persons taking common snapping turtles to possess a valid sport fishing license issued under Article 20 of the Fish and Aquatic Life Code.

Permits common snapping turtle taking only during open seasons specified by administrative rule, except that trapping is allowed regardless of other method restrictions.

Maintains daily catch limits and total possession limits for snapping turtles to be specified by administrative rule.

Preserves existing restrictions on bowfishing for common snapping turtles in counties designated by administrative rule.
