IL SB1894

Prohibits members of the Illinois General Assembly, their spouses, and immediate family members living with them from receiving compensation to act as lobbyists or register as lobbyists under state or local law.

Prohibits these individuals from communicating with state, local government, or school district officials for the purpose of influencing executive, legislative, or administrative action.

Violations constitute a Class A misdemeanor, and if the violator is a General Assembly member, they must forfeit their office.

Defines "lobbyist" to include individuals receiving compensation to encourage passage, defeat, or modification of legislation; designated representatives of organizations with such purposes; and representatives of government bodies advocating for legislative changes.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
