SB2006 Summary

• Amends the Evidence-Based Funding formula for Illinois public schools by increasing the Minimum Funding Level from $350,000,000 to $550,000,000.

• The Minimum Funding Level establishes a target for State funding that keeps pace with inflation and advances equity through the Evidence-Based Funding formula distribution system.

• This increased funding level becomes effective July 1, 2023, and applies to all school years going forward.

• The additional $200,000,000 in minimum funding is intended to accelerate progress toward a fully-funded public education system and provide more resources to schools serving students in poverty and those with greater educational needs.
