Beginning July 1, 2024, Illinois residents can apply for rebates following the purchase of an electric bicycle, with rebate amounts of $400 for regular purchasers and $1,200 for low-income purchasers, not to exceed the bicycle's purchase price.

Applicants must reside in Illinois, have purchased the bicycle from an Illinois seller on or after July 1, 2022, own it at time of rebate issuance, and apply within 90 days of purchase.

Recipients must retain ownership and Illinois residency for a minimum of 12 consecutive months and register the bicycle in Illinois, or reimburse the Agency for all or part of the rebate.

The Agency must define "low-income purchaser" by rule and prioritize reviewing and awarding rebates to low-income applicants.

Each person may receive only one rebate per 10-year period, with only one rebate allowed per person per electric bicycle.
