IL SB2154

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to require all newly purchased, leased, or contracted school buses to be electric vehicles beginning January 1, 2028.

Requires school buses operating primarily within or serving students in equity investment eligible communities to be electric vehicles by January 1, 2030.

Mandates all school buses providing transportation to enrolled students in Illinois be electric vehicles by January 1, 2035.

Defines "electric vehicle" as a vehicle exclusively powered by and refueled by electricity that must be plugged in to charge and is licensed for public roadways under the Electric Vehicle Rebate Act.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
