School districts must employ a sufficient number of school nurses to address student needs, with a minimum student-to-nurse ratio of 750 to 1.

School nurse staffing considerations must include complex health needs of students, needs for continuous professional nursing services, number of free and reduced lunch students, and average annual medical emergencies per school.

School districts must employ a sufficient number of school psychologists to address student and school needs, with a minimum student-to-psychologist ratio of 500 to 1.

Amendments apply to Sections 10-22.23 and 14-1.09 of the Illinois School Code.

Effective date is June 30, 2023.
