IL SB2264

Expands military service credit eligibility for county employees by allowing any contributing employee to purchase up to 48 months of active-duty military service credit, regardless of when the service occurred.

Requires employees to pay employee contributions based on their compensation rate after military service, plus interest at the effective rate from discharge to payment date.

Removes the previous restriction limiting military service credit to employees with at least 25 years of service as of January 1, 1993 and to a maximum of 2 years of service.

Eliminates the forfeiture provision that previously required employees who received early retirement incentives under Section 9-134.2 to forfeit military service credit and receive a refund.

Exempts the state from reimbursing local governments for costs of implementing this mandate.
