IL SB2283

Creates the Safety in Professional Steel Erection Licensure Act requiring the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to license all steel erectors performing work in Illinois.

Prohibits individuals from performing steel erection without a license; violators face fines of $5,000 for the first offense and $10,000 for each subsequent offense, with offenses determined on a daily basis.

Authorizes the Department to charge licensure fees not to exceed $125 per license, with all collected fees deposited into the newly created Steel Erectors Licensure Fund to implement and enforce the Act.

Requires the Department to adopt rules for licensure, enforcement, and violation reporting protocols, and to coordinate with the Department of Transportation for enforcement purposes.

Repeals the Act on January 1, 2028 under the Regulatory Sunset Act; becomes effective immediately upon enactment.
