IL SB2288

Requires all public institutions to participate in the Illinois Articulation Initiative by submitting and maintaining courses for statewide transfer, including a complete General Education Core Curriculum package and up to 4 core courses in each major field.

Mandates that Illinois Articulation Initiative General Education courses taken during the COVID-19 public health emergency in 2020 with grades of "pass," "credit," or "satisfactory" must be transferable and fulfill prerequisite requirements for advanced courses.

Specifies that Illinois Articulation Initiative major courses must be transferable as direct course equivalents or elective credit toward major requirements, with students receiving elective lower-division major credit if the receiving institution does not offer the course at the lower-division level.

Requires students receiving the full General Education Core Curriculum package to be exempt from taking additional lower-division general education courses.

Establishes that the Board of Higher Education and Illinois Community College Board must co-manage the initiative and convene panels across specified fields including General Education, Communications, Humanities and Fine Arts, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Mathematics, and Elementary and Secondary Education.
