Department of Natural Resources shall create a biennial flood insurance training course for Illinois insurance producers covering eligibility and availability of the National Flood Insurance Program, which counts toward continuing education requirements.

Department of Insurance must review and approve the flood insurance training course under its normal approval process.

Beginning January 1, 2025, insurance producers licensed in the property insurance line of authority must complete at least one hour of flood insurance continuing education per renewal period, which may be satisfied by the Department of Natural Resources training course.

Existing continuing education requirements for insurance producers remain at 24 hours per renewal period, with 3 hours required for ethics instruction and the new 1-hour flood insurance requirement incorporated into this total.

Effective date of January 1, 2024.
