IL SB2425

Amends the Firearm Concealed Carry Act to allow forest preserve districts to prohibit firearms in specific facilities and areas including botanic gardens, campgrounds, aquatic centers, athletic venues, golf courses, nature centers, equestrian centers, and other recreational facilities.

Defines "grounds" as 75 feet from the entrance to any prohibited area on forest preserve property or any area enclosed by fencing on forest preserve property, whichever is greater.

Removes the blanket prohibition on carrying concealed firearms on Cook County Forest Preserve District property and replaces it with a more limited prohibition allowing districts to restrict firearms in specific designated areas.

Allows forest preserve districts to prohibit firearms at public and private gatherings or special events on their property that require a permit.

Exempts forest preserve districts from the requirement to post standardized "no firearms" signage at entrances to prohibited areas.
