IL SB2623

Requires individual and group accident and health insurance policies amended, delivered, issued, or renewed in Illinois after June 1, 2024 to cover standard fertility preservation services and follow-up services including storage.

Defines "standard fertility preservation services" as procedures based on current evidence-based standards of care established by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, or other national medical associations, including cryopreservation.

Prohibits insurers from discriminating based on expected length of life, disability, health conditions, age, sex, sexual orientation, or marital status when determining coverage eligibility.

Prevents insurers from imposing exclusions, limitations, or different restrictions on fertility preservation coverage compared to other prescription medications or non-fertility services.

Makes conforming changes to state employee health insurance, county and municipal self-insured health plans, school insurance, HMOs, limited health service organizations, voluntary health plans, and Medicaid to include fertility preservation coverage requirements.
