IL SB2671

Creates new Section 356z.71 of the Illinois Insurance Code requiring group and individual accident and health insurance policies and managed care plans to cover hippotherapy and therapeutic riding when amended, delivered, issued, or renewed after the effective date.

Defines "hippotherapy" as physical, occupational, or speech therapy prescribed by a physician and delivered by licensed therapists with a professional horse handler and therapy horse.

Defines "therapeutic riding" as horseback riding lessons adapted for individuals with disabilities, delivered by a professional horse handler and therapy horse.

Applies hippotherapy and therapeutic riding coverage requirements to State Employees Group Insurance Program, county self-insured health plans, municipal self-insured health plans, school district insurance, and Health Maintenance Organizations.

Makes conforming amendments to existing statutes to add Section 356z.71 to lists of required insurance coverage provisions across multiple public and private insurance programs.
