IL SB2699

Amends the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act Section 3-203 to require legislators to disclose conflicts of interest when taking official action on a matter despite a conflict situation existing.

Requires a legislator with a conflict to file a statement with the Clerk of the House of Representatives or the Secretary of the Senate stating they have a conflict and are voting in the public interest.

Mandates that conflict disclosure statements be made part of the official legislative record and posted on the Illinois General Assembly website with other related documents.

Maintains the existing requirement that legislators must serve the public interest rather than any private interest when acting despite a conflict situation.

Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
