IL SB2847

Amends the Criminal Code of 2012 to add a definition of "artificial intelligence" as a machine-based system that perceives environments, analyzes them into models, and uses inference to formulate options for information or action based on human-defined objectives.

Expands the false personation statute (720 ILCS 5/17-2) to clarify that certain forms of false personation may be accomplished through the use of artificial intelligence.

Maintains existing criminal penalties for false personation violations, including Class C misdemeanors, Class A misdemeanors, and petty offenses depending on the specific type of false personation committed.

Does not create new crimes but rather clarifies that existing false personation offenses can be committed using AI technology in addition to traditional methods.
