IL SB2863

Amends Illinois Vehicle Code Section 11-315 to require permanent regulatory or warning signage at publicly owned paved bicycle trail highway crossings, unless the intersection is controlled by an official traffic control device or sign.

Requires authorities with maintenance jurisdiction over publicly owned paved bicycle trails to erect temporary signage or other warning markers (cones, barricades, drums) when they have actual knowledge of emergency or safety hazards creating dangerous conditions.

Requires the Department of Transportation and local authorities to erect or install permanent signage warning vehicular traffic in advance of bicycle trail crossings, with signage located at least 150 feet in advance of crossings and conforming to the State manual.

Exempts rustic or primitive trails from these signage requirements.

Takes effect immediately upon passage.
