SB2982: Dentist and Dental Hygienist Compact Act

• Creates the Dentist and Dental Hygienist Compact, allowing dentists and dental hygienists licensed in participating states to practice in other participating states through a "Compact Privilege" without obtaining separate licensure.

• Establishes a multi-state Commission composed of one commissioner per participating state, with powers to promulgate rules, maintain a shared data system, and oversee licensure and disciplinary matters across states.

• Requires participating states to meet standards including criminal background checks, accepting national board examinations, continuing professional development requirements, and reporting adverse actions and investigative information through a coordinated database.

• Provides active military members and their spouses exemption from Commission fees for compact privileges and allows states to waive or reduce state fees for military applicants.

• Specifies that the compact becomes effective when seven states enact it, includes withdrawal provisions requiring 180 days' notice, and allows states to continue recognizing compact privileges for at least 180 days after withdrawal or termination.
