IL SB3164

Amends the School Code to restrict standardized assessments for prekindergarten through grade 2 students to diagnostic and screening purposes only.

Prohibits the State Board of Education from developing, purchasing, or requiring school districts to administer standardized assessments for pre-K through grade 2 students except for diagnostic and screening purposes.

Expands the definition of "diagnostic and screening purposes" to include identification for advanced academic programs as defined in Section 14A-17 of the School Code.

Prevents the State Board of Education from providing funding for standardized assessments of pre-K through grade 2 students except for diagnostic and screening purposes.

Preserves the ability of individual teachers and school districts to develop and administer classroom-level assessments and does not restrict special education child find or evaluation procedures.
