Allows sheriffs to authorize auxiliary deputies to wear plain clothes during disaster response or civil disorder situations, provided they carry proper identification.

Removes the requirement that auxiliary deputies be in uniform to carry firearms; allows firearm carrying during performance of assigned duties only (with sheriff permission).

Maintains existing restrictions that auxiliary deputies cannot supplement regular county police or deputies except in emergency situations when regular officers cannot perform duties.

Requires auxiliary deputies to receive training in weapons and police procedures before duty, with additional peace officer firearm training required before carrying firearms.

Preserves existing requirements that auxiliary deputies be county residents and undergo fingerprinting prior to appointment.
