SB3242 Summary

• Prohibits Illinois State agencies from requiring a baccalaureate degree as a condition of eligibility for State employment positions.

• Exception allows degree requirements only when the appointing authority determines the required knowledge, skills, or abilities can only reasonably be obtained through pursuit of a baccalaureate or advanced degree.

• Amends the Illinois Personnel Code by adding Section 8b.21 and modifying Section 8b to include the new degree requirement provisions.

• Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
