IL SB3295

Amends the School Code Section 24-2 to prohibit deductions from time or compensation of school employees during any legal or special holiday for which the employee is contractually employed.

Changes the standard from deductions being made only for holidays "in which that employee would have otherwise been scheduled to work" to deductions being prohibited during holidays "during which time the employee is contractually employed."

Maintains existing provisions allowing school boards to hold school or schedule teachers' institutes, parent-teacher conferences, or staff development on certain holidays (MLK Jr. Day, Lincoln's Birthday, Pulaski Day, Columbus Day, Veterans' Day) if they conduct public hearings and include instructional recognition of the honored persons.

Preserves the list of legal school holidays including New Year's Day, MLK Jr. Day, Lincoln's Birthday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans' Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Maintains commemorative holidays as regular school days and includes references to state election day holidays for November 3, 2020, November 8, 2022, and November 5, 2024.
