IL SB3309

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to require authorities with maintenance jurisdiction over publicly owned paved bicycle trails to erect permanent regulatory or warning signage at highway crossings, unless the intersection is already controlled by an official traffic control device or sign.

Defines "paved bicycle trail" as trails accommodating bicycle traffic composed of aggregate, asphalt, bituminous treatment, concrete, crushed limestone, or any combination thereof.

Requires authorities with actual knowledge of emergency or safety hazards on publicly owned paved bicycle trails to take reasonable steps to erect temporary signage or warning markers such as cones, barricades, or drums to alert pedestrians and cyclists.
