IL SB3354

Creates new Section 3-6008.5 of the Counties Code establishing expedited examination procedures for veteran applicants to deputy sheriff positions who were discharged honorably or generally under honorable conditions within 6 months of applying.

Allows qualifying veteran applicants to request examination before the next regularly scheduled examination date and requires they be examined as soon as possible upon request.

Requires immediate placement on the eligibility list for veteran applicants who pass the examination and meet all other requirements for appointment.

Preserves veteran applicants' eligibility to receive military preference points during the application process and employment, ensuring this expedited procedure does not waive those benefits.

Applies the same veteran examination provisions to Section 3-7008 concerning deputy sheriff appointments in the Police Department and Department of Corrections.
