Department of Corrections must assess all persons under its care for substance use disorder, including specific screening and assessment for opioid use disorders.

For committed persons diagnosed with opioid use disorder, the Department must offer or facilitate access to all medication-assisted treatment options deemed appropriate by an authorized health care professional, without imposing limitations on treatment types.

Individuals receiving medication-assisted treatment before commitment may continue such treatment for any medically necessary period upon request, and cannot be denied participation based on positive drug screenings upon entry or prior treatment failures.

No person may receive a disciplinary infraction for a positive drug screen upon entering Department custody.
