IL SB3435

Amends Section 12-2 of the Criminal Code of 2012 to add a new category of aggravated assault offense targeting workers on public works projects.

Establishes that assaulting a construction worker, maintenance worker, engineer, survey worker, truck driver, material supplier, or state/local government employee performing work on a public works project constitutes aggravated assault.

Defines "public works" using the definition from Section 2 of the Prevailing Wage Act.

Classifies this aggravated assault offense as a Class A misdemeanor.

Applies the same penalties as other existing aggravated assault offenses involving assault on specific protected classes of individuals.
