• Social media companies must obtain express parental or legal guardian consent before allowing Illinois minors to create accounts on their platforms.

• Social media companies must verify account holder age using a third-party vendor through government-issued identification or other commercially reasonable age verification methods.

• Social media companies must block minors from accessing social media platforms between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

• Social media companies that knowingly violate these requirements face civil penalties of up to $2,500 per violation plus court costs and attorney's fees, enforced by the Attorney General.

• Third-party vendors performing age verification must delete all identifying information of individuals after platform access is granted, with violations subject to the same civil penalty structure.
