Data brokers operating in Illinois must register annually with the Attorney General on or before January 31.

Data brokers must pay a registration fee determined by the Attorney General not to exceed reasonable costs of establishing and maintaining the registry website.

Registration requires data brokers to provide their contact information, whether they collect data on minors, precise geolocation, reproductive health data, and regulatory status under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.

The Attorney General shall maintain a public internet website displaying registered data brokers' information without use of dark patterns.

All registration fees shall be deposited into a new Data Broker Registry Fund to offset costs of enforcing registration requirements and maintaining the registry website.
