• School districts may allow students to waive course or unit of instruction completion requirements if the student demonstrates mastery or competency in the content and the course is required for high school diploma.

• School districts must maintain documentation of mastery/competency determinations, including learning standards reviewed, measurement methods, student performance, determination date, and personnel involved.

• School districts must notify parents or guardians when a student receives a waiver of course completion requirements under the accelerated placement policy.

• Beginning 2024-2025 school year, high school students must complete laboratory science (rather than general science) as a graduation requirement; beginning 2028-2029, students must complete 2 years of foreign language courses.
