Restricts venue for actions against nonresident defendants to the county where the transaction giving rise to the cause of action occurred, rather than allowing suits in any county.

Redefines corporate residency for venue purposes to only counties where the corporation has a registered office or other office, eliminating the "doing business" standard.

Applies same residency rules to partnerships and voluntary unincorporated associations, limiting venue to counties where they have an office rather than where partners/members reside or business is conducted.

Eliminates the provision allowing insurance companies to be sued in any county where a plaintiff resides.

Requires dismissal for lack of proper venue if no defendant is a state resident and no part of the transaction occurred in the state; changes apply to actions filed on or after the effective date.
