IL SB3605

Amends the supportive living facilities program under the Illinois Public Aid Code to allow existing facilities to convert non-dementia care units to dementia care units upon application to the Department of Healthcare and Family Services.

Limits conversions so that total dementia care units do not exceed the total number of non-dementia care units remaining in the building.

Requires all converted units to become operational within 180 days of approval and meet certification criteria for dementia care settings outlined in the Illinois Administrative Code.

Applies to supportive living facilities already approved by the Department as of January 1, 2024 (the effective date of Public Act 103-102).
