If the State Board declares a teacher shortage, applicants are automatically deemed to have passed the content area knowledge test required for educator licensure.

The State Board must adopt rules defining what constitutes a teacher shortage and publicly post this definition on its website.

A paraprofessional competency test allows applicants seeking an Educator License with Stipulations and paraprofessional endorsement to obtain the endorsement by passing the test and meeting other requirements, excluding higher education requirements.

Teacher performance assessment requirements are waived from August 4, 2023 through August 31, 2025, and resume on September 1, 2025 for all teacher preparation program candidates.

A Teacher Performance Assessment Task Force with 25 members representing educators, administrators, school districts, universities, and advocacy organizations is created to evaluate and recommend teacher performance assessment systems by August 1, 2024.
