IL SB3700

Allows court clerks to optionally establish systems for sending text messages, emails, and telephone notifications to defendants about continued court dates, in addition to mailed notice to last known address.

Removes the mandatory automatic "failure to appear" order and associated driver's license suspension when a defendant fails to appear on a continued court date.

Lifts all driver's license suspensions that were previously imposed under the failure to appear provisions for individuals whose licenses were suspended before this law's effective date.

Eliminates mitigating factor provisions that allowed courts to consider defendant circumstances (intentional refusal to pay, good faith effort) when deciding to impose contempt or imprisonment for nonpayment of fines.
