Insurance companies providing automobile liability insurance for registered vehicles in Illinois must notify the Secretary of State within 30 days after canceling a policy

Upon receiving notice of a policy cancellation, the Secretary of State must notify the vehicle owner within 30 days that they have 30 days to provide verification of liability insurance coverage

If the vehicle owner fails to provide proof of liability insurance within the 30-day compliance period, the Secretary of State shall cancel the owner's driver's license or permit

The license or permit cancellation remains in effect until the owner provides the required verification of liability insurance coverage

Amends both the Illinois Insurance Code (adding Section 143.19.4) and the Illinois Vehicle Code (Section 6-201)
