IL SB3720

Requires prescribers to offer patients a copy of their written or electronic prescription beginning January 1, 2025.

Prohibits prescribers from using medical abbreviations in prescriptions, including in medication names, frequency, and dosage, effective January 1, 2025.

Requires the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to notify prescribers of the requirements and provide information about medication errors.

Directs the Department to verify prescriptions comply with the abbreviation prohibition and issue warnings to prescribers who violate the requirement.

Authorizes the Department to adopt rules implementing and administering these provisions.
