Parole agents and supervisors terminated from the Illinois Department of Corrections employment lose all law enforcement official status and rights permanently.

Parole agents and supervisors may carry personal firearms while off-duty if they complete firearms training certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board and requalify annually at state-certified ranges.

Off-duty firearm carriers must purchase and register their own firearms with the Illinois State Police and cannot carry state-issued Department of Corrections firearms.

Retired parole agents and supervisors may retain off-duty firearms rights by enrolling in the Retired Officer's Carry Conceal Program supervised by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board.

"Terminated" is defined as employment termination due to internal disciplinary matters, excluding retirements.
