Ardo C. Holmgrain of Rock Island passed away on June 7, 2024, at age 96.

Served 32 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as chief of estimating and specifications, receiving two Sustained Superior Performance Awards and a Special Act Award for Value Engineering.

Active member of Rock Island Rotary Club for over 50 years with perfect attendance; served as club president and was instrumental in creating the A.T. Peara Award lifetime achievement honor.

Served as president of multiple organizations including the Rock Island Engineering and Scientific Corp, the Rock Island American Scandinavian Society, and the Youth Guidance Council of Rock Island, which created the professional Youth Services Bureau.

Survived by his wife of 67 years Carolyn, son Kent, daughter Ardith, and grandchildren Alexander and Sabina Sas.
