Bruce Voges of St. Joseph passed away on June 3, 2024, at age 98, having been born April 28, 1926, in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years, enlisting at age 17 and serving in the Pacific theater during World War II and throughout the Korean War, retiring as a senior chief petty officer.

Worked as a bank teller and later president of First National Bank of Ogden before retiring in 1988, and co-owned and operated the Lincoln House Restaurant in Ogden with his wife Katie and two others.

Remained active in retirement by helping renovate the Vermilion County War Museum and participating in the 2000 restoration of the World War II landing ship LST325 in Greece, serving as chief boatswain on its Atlantic Ocean voyage back to the United States.

Illinois Senate mourns his passing and extends condolences to his surviving family, including three children, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; his wife Katie preceded him in death in 2011.
