Illinois Senate resolution mourning the death of Nanci L. Vanderweel of Elk Grove Village, who passed away on July 6, 2024

Vanderweel became the first woman elected trustee to the Elk Grove Village Board of Trustees in 1971, serving three terms, and later became the first female supervisor of Elk Grove Township until retiring at age 76

Led the creation of the I-290 interchange at Biesterfield Road in the late 1980s, established a blood donation program, and arranged relocation of a historical farmhouse to serve as the Elk Grove Historical Museum headquarters

Served as charter member of Friends of Harper College, member of Alexian Brothers Medical Center Board of Directors, and member of the 214 Education Foundation Board

Extends condolences to her surviving family including husband Leonard Vanderweel, daughter Kitty Weiner, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter Evie
