Illinois Senate mourns the death of Loretta Marie (Behrendt) Tvrdy of Elk Grove Village, who passed away on July 2, 2024.

Loretta was born August 13, 1930, attended St. Hyacinth School and Alvernia High School, and married Gerald "Jerry" Tvrdy on October 22, 1955; her husband preceded her in death on August 18, 1970.

Worked as a learning center aide and in the human resources department at Community Consolidated School District 59 in Elk Grove Village before retiring in 1995; served as a longtime member of the League of Women Voters.

Raised six children single-handedly after her husband's death and is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two siblings.

Senate extends sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.
