Marvin Leroy Hare of Rock Island died on July 23, 2024, at age 75, having been born January 8, 1949, in Galesburg.

Served 30 years with the Rock Island Arsenal Police Department and previously worked 20 years at Steak 'n Shake in Galesburg.

Earned a degree in criminal justice from Carl Sandburg College and served in the U.S. Army with the 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam.

Member of Milan American Legion Post 569 and the Rock Island Boat Club; enjoyed fishing and watching westerns.

Illinois Senate extends condolences to his surviving wife Stacey Hare, mother Twilla Ferry, siblings Elaine Shane, Debbie Porch, and Glen Ferry, along with nieces, nephews, and close friend Danny Erenst.
